England boss Fabio Capello praises David Beckham and Jose Mourinho and discusses his relationship with Alex Del Piero and Antonio Cassano.
The former Real Madrid tactician was on TV show Chiambretti Night on Italia 1 and answered a variety of questions from host Piero Chiambretti.
“Milan are a squad with lots of figurines, but also excellent players,” Capello said.
“Beckham is a humble lad as well as a good player. He knew that if he didn't come to Milan I wouldn't have chosen him for the national team.
“He doesn't have the spring he once had, but he is very intelligent tactically and can still find space in the midfield.”
Mourinho's Inter have been under the microscope in the peninsula's media of late.
“His Inter is still under construction,” Capello explained.
“He is an excellent Coach who understands Italian football and knows that the other tacticians are well prepared to challenge the Nerazzurri juggernaut.”
Referees have been in the firing line once more after a series of dubious decisions in recent weeks.
“I am in favour of using technology to help referees,” Capello stressed.
“That already happens in all other sports, except for ours where we are still a bit behind.”
Capello concluded by discussing his difficult relationships with Del Piero and Cassano.
“The Cassano situation was simple at Real Madrid - there were lots of champions in the squad and he wasn't in shape physically,” he said.
“As for Del Piero, at Juventus we had David Trezeguet and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and I had to make my choices but Alex always accepted my decision - he may have grumbled but there was no controversy.”
