The news that the Australian government is going to throw all it has at getting the 2018 World Cup has proved the point that football is on its way to being Australias number 1 sport. The success of the A-league has taken everybody by surprise and the national team is looking like it could compete on any level. All these positives have seen the number children to take up the sport grow consistantly over the last few years, and if Australia plays it right and prepares these passionate kids the way it does young cricketers or rugby players I feel there is a real chance of world cup success in 20 years or so
